Texas Scholars Program

The Texas Scholars Proram is recognition given to students who demonstrate leadership through volunteerism. To participate students must mee the following requirements:

• Graduate on the Foundation Plan with at least one Endorsement.
• Earn 25 hours of community service hours for every year at BDISD. (It is the student’s responsibility to document these hours and turn them in to Ms. Pair. Each entry must be signed and dated by the supervisor of the organization and include a phone number for the supervisor.)

BDISD students meeting these requirments will receive ornamentation to wear at graduation and will be denoted in the graduation program.

Volunteer requirements are as follows:

• Volunteer hours should be turned in NO LATER than April 30 of the school year hours were performed
• All hours MUST be submitted by April 30 of student’s senior year
• Maximum of 8 volunteer hours a day
• Only 40 hours may come from one organization
• 60 hours must be from a non-profit organization
• June is considered the next school year
• Hours are accepted the summer before entering the 9^th grade through April 30 of the senior year
